THE MANNA-HATTA PROJECT

A series of cabarets to develop the 2027 Promenade Production

The Manna-Hata Project RESET words overlayed on a sixteenth century woodcut of a Lenape settlement on Manhattan with a European schooner anchored in the harbor just offshore.

The New Journey through NYC History Continues...

It's more than a reboot: we've scrapped the sold out 2013 production and started over with brand new material to celebrate the city that we've all chosen to call home. Beginning in Spring 2026, our creative team will be joined by a rotating group of artists from across artistic disciplines—performance, dance, music, visual art, puppetry, and much more—to create new stories from more than four centuries of NYC history. Then each quarter, we'll present these short works in an evening of theme-based cabarets at different venues around the five boroughs.

Each cabaret will take audiences on a 90-minute journey through the high and low points of the City: the activists who shaped its evolving landscape, the riots that reshaped it, the ordinary workers who built it, and the powerful elites who exploited their labor. And for the adventurous spectator, we'll have opportunities for you to participate with trivia contests and an open mic to add your story to The Manna-Hata Project narrative!

ARTISTS: If you are interested in collaborating with our team on an upcoming cabaret event, just fill out a brief questionnaire about yourself and your art.
